Summary: Construction began in 2008 and was completed in April 2010. The new Franklin Police Headquarters is located in downtown Historic Franklin on Columbia Avenue. This facility houses all day to day operations of the Franklin police force and supporting staff. The new facility is approximately 95,000 square feet and includes 3 vehicle bays, an evidence processing area, a large conference and community room, and a forensic laboratory complete with cyanoacrylate fuming chambers and mobile lab stations.
This project is going for LEED gold certification. SWA was able to contribute to several LEED points on this project including 20% recycled content (MR4.2), certified wood (MR7), low-emitting adhesives and sealants (EQ4.1), and low emitting composite wood and agrifiber products (EQ4.4). All of the casework and wainscoting were provided as low-VOC products. The laboratory casework and wainscoting were also provided as FSC chain of custody certified material. Several countertops and benchtops were provided as Alchemy, which is made with post-industrial recycled content. SWA received our chain of custody certificate from the Forestry Stewardship Council in 2008.
