Christian Brothers High School Band Room

Project: Christian Brothers High School Band Room
Owner: Christian Brothers High School
Architect: Fleming Associates Architects
Contractor: Linkous Construction
Location: Memphis, Tennessee
Completion: August 2011

Description: Add Casework & Equipment to Existing Band Room

Scope:

  • Instrument Storage
  • Uniform Storage
  • Practice Rooms

Summary: This project was conceived and designed over a several year period.  The CBHS Band Room underwent a major renovation and addition in 2010 but money had to be raised to complete the equipment installation.  SWA worked closely with the architect and owner to design the casework.  After obtaining a list of instruments to be stored from the owner, an instrument storage casework layout was presented and modified several times.  One of the unique features was the request for low instrument storage units in the middle of the room with a counter on top so the students could place book bags on top.  Uniform storage cabinets were added to the scope.  The owner also had a request for sound booths to function as practice rooms.  SWA partnered with LSI and a company called IAC to provide CBHS with custom sized practice rooms complete with all finishes, electrical and HVAC inlet.  Complete product submittals were approved, final colors were selected and field dimensions were obtained.  After working out a few details, the project was placed into production and was delivered and installed prior to school opening in August.
